Girl Like Me - Beth Crowley

I have posted this song on my blog three times now, but it still does not do justice to how much I love this girl's song!

Catching Up

So it has been a while since I have had the chance to blog. I am sorry for the long periods of time between some of my postings. Currently, I am going to college, so I have been lacking free time to spend on here. However, I have just wrapped up another round of final exams and long papers. Therefore, I am open to blog all week. (Then I am right back at school starting October 6th)
To start off today, I would like to make sure people understand the "There, Their, They're" issue at hand. One of my dear friends at school made the error of having "there" where it should have been "they're" on a project. I corrected her, so she terrorized me with the horrors of improper word usage.

Maybe I just have issues, but I feel like since these words are extremely simple to use properly, no one should mix them up. Actually, considering the intelligence levels I see around me on an every-day basis...nothing surprises me anymore about how unintelligent some people can be.

On a completely different note, I would like to wish everyone a happy belated fall! Go out and enjoy the changing of the colors!

Until next time, I hope everyone is having a good year! I look forward to posting something about my halloween costume soon.

What is an Opinion?

I have been asked for my opinion so many times, for so many reasons. Not until just today did I really sit down and think about what an opinion really is. Here's my bit of writing discussing how an opinion really is (in my opinion).

"An opinion is a curious thing. When one asks for your opinion, there may be more than just one simple answer floating around in the jumble of the mind. Yet there is only one to say; it is expected of you. So, with that said, when the opinion is actually blurted out...whose opinion is it? Society has created our opinions, formed us into its game of confusion and lies. Deception is all around us; very rarely is the truth spotted. The opinion is compromised of how, when, and where we were raised. An opinion from the Middle East is likely different from an opinion in the States. The issue of what an opinion really is, well, it’s no simple answer. Nor is an opinion ever really a simple answer. Next time your opinion is asked, take a moment to really ponder the situation at hand. See if, just maybe, you can figure out what your real opinion is meant to be." - Alyssa Hellenbrand

Regarding Animal Safety Concerns and the Such

I have really been thinking about animals and how they get treated lately. There has been a story going around in social media about a cat that attacked a family and had them lock themselves away for safety while they called 9-1-1. Honestly, this disturbs me. I do not feel like it was really the cat's fault in this situation. I am a proud cat owner and I have had my fair share of attitude-prone felines (many being those darn calico beauties). Never have I ever had a fear of them.

There is a huge difference between healthy fear from respect, and downright traumatic fear. I may fear my felines out of respect if they are having a sour day, but I am never truly concerned for my safety. Then again, I am going to school to become a veterinary technician, so that could play a good part in my feelings toward the issue at hand.

Anyways, though, if an animal is respected and never given a real reason to fear you, there will be no reason for you to fear that animal. Mutual respect is commonly a problem with pet owners. It doesn't matter if your pet is feline, canine; if you have a reptile, a bird, or any other creature with a life. If you respect that living being, there is a huge chance that you will be equally respected.

Granted, there is always the whole pray and hunter aspect of their nature to take into consideration. If you, say, have a pet monitor lizard (tree, water, nile, savannah, etc.) they are bound to have their aggressive peaks. It is only natural, and normally means they are rather uncomfortable in one aspect or another. Often times it simply means it may be time for a feeding or to leave the poor creature to itself. Everyone needs alone time sometimes!

No matter what your animal preference, just keep in mind that all animals need to be respected and their typical natural behaviors must always be taken into consideration. Oh, and one last thing: If you ever harm an animal, I sure hope it will shred the skin off of you.

Even though I promised myself I wouldn't risk the chance of getting hurt again, for some reason, when I'm with you, it all seems worth it.

I got out of a crappy-ending relationship with a partner who clearly still had feelings for his ex shortly after this last christmas.
It was not fun.
But now I am back up, brushed off, and I am smiling, holding my head to the clouds again.
On January 20th I was introduced to a really real smile again. It was like nothing I expected.
I had thought that it would be a long time before I would be allowed to smile so honestly again.
And even more strange is how soon the feelings came back.
This guy is nothing like my first relationship, so I was shocked when my mind fell so hard for him.
I clearly had no idea what I like in a guy.
Happily, I can assure that this guy is kind, honest, humorous, and there is that new-relationship longing.
It is extremely strong between us and I cannot ignore it, not that I want to.
He keeps me going on the bad days.
I am opening my heart to him a little more every time we talk.
So...every day...

My Beliefs on Souls

Personally, I believe that souls can linger on our planes. I may be weird for thinking this way and believing the things I believe, but sometimes there is a presence that is noticed. I think souls have their reasons to linger or stay around longer than just the initial death. They cannot leave our plane until something they need to happen occurs and they are satisfied. Whether it be a form of justice/revenge, or maybe just a lending of their strength. When they are ready to leave us, they get to go to their final resting place.
At funerals, I truly believe the soul of the lost loved one is there with the ones who need him/her most. That soul knows you need the strength they can offer to you, so they stand by your side and help you through the rough patches.
Our loved ones don't always vanish right after they die. Actually, they never do, in my opinion.
Souls leave little bits of themselves on the ones who meant the most to them.
Love never does die.
Neither do our memories.

I'm Sorry It's Late - Happy Belated New Year!

Here's to trying to remember to write '14 instead of '13 on checks or whenever else we may need to write the date!
