Rebecca Black - My Moment (Leave hurtful words and thoughts behind)

Rebecca Black, you don't know me, and I don't know you. However, I just want to say that this is the kind of music people enjoy. I understand being bullied, and your Friday song certainly was creative and daring. It just didn't have a meaning to support it. Here, on this song, you opened yourself up and there is heart behind it. I am very sorry you have to deal with all of the cruelty from people who cannot move past their initial thoughts. Also, when it comes to their comments about auto tune, ignore them, pretty much every artist uses it now. It adds new effects and layers to songs. You are going to be a big hit and I hope you do go to college and follow your dreams. Stay strong. :)

GLEE - If I Die Young (Full Performance) + Break Down (Official Music Vi...

If you watch Glee, this will be a heart-felt moment for you to watch this either for the first time or once again.
If you do not watch Glee - no matter the reason - give this video a chance.
This is a video of Santana singing to Finn (Naya singing to Cory) and it is with her real heart into this. The character Finn (played by Cory) actually died. There's nothing pretend about that.
As Santana sings, you see her real emotions.
This show sometimes gets a bad reputation, but it is not just a scripted death of a character that can be replaced.
This is a real show of cast emotions as they mourn the loss of their friend.
In the comments, feel free to share anything this video made you think about.
Loss is not a burden anyone should be forced to deal with alone, you need friends and family to help you through all of the following hardships.

Ever Heard of Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome?

In 1993 there were 40 cases of Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome, as the first picture depicts.
Now look at the second photo.
A little different, isn't it?
Since 1993, hundreds of cases have sprung up here and there.
As you can see, New Mexico has fared the worst, with 90 cases.
In Colorado, there have been 79 cases.
Arizona has 65 cases.
Here, in Wisconsin, there has been one case.
Just one.
Either this syndrome only likes warmer weather, or something they aren't doing...well, we are.

Cute Squirrel Picture

I am not sure quite why, but I have always adored squirrels. It could possibly be due to the fact that at the house I was in up until second grade, we had a neighbor that fed the squirrels. The lady loved these squirrels and you could tell they trusted her completely. They were all so much fun to watch. I believe that is where my squirrel infatuation began, but I cannot guarantee that. There was one squirrel that I really got to love, we named him Stubs. He had, somehow, lost most of his adorable bushy tail, so there was just an awkward fluff stump where his normal tail should have been. One other squirrel that I really remember was an albino one, his name was Whitey. I know, super creative.
Anyways, enough background information about why I like squirrels, here's a really cute picture I found earlier today. This picture inspired this post. This picture inspired me to share about my squirrel obsession. I hope you enjoy it!

Syria - BBC News

Q&A: Syria chemical weapons disarmament deal

US Secretary of State John Kerry and Sergei Lavrov in Geneva (14 September 2013)John Kerry and Sergei Lavrov reached an agreement after three days of talks
The Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) is implementing an agreement, reached by the US and Russia on 14 September, to destroy Syria's chemical weapons arsenal. The deal placed indefinitely on hold the prospect of US-led strikes on Syria as punishment for a deadly chemical weapons attack in Damascus on 21 August.
What does the US-Russia agreement say?
Under the framework deal, the US and Russia asked the OPCW to approve procedures for Syria's chemical weapons programme to be destroyed, and for "stringent verification" that this has taken place.
Damascus was given one week to submit "a comprehensive listing" of its chemical weapons agents, types of munitions and location and form of storage, production and research and development facilities. After Syria submitted its inventory, the OPCW team entered Syria on 1 October.
The destruction of the arsenal began on 6 October, overseen by the OPCW.
Initial inspections must be completed by November. Equipment for producing chemical weapons and filling munitions with agents must also be destroyed by November. The "complete elimination of all chemical weapons material and equipment" must be completed by the first half of 2014.
The US and Russia agree that Syria's chemical agents and precursor chemicals should be destroyed outside Syria if possible. But the framework says they could also be consolidated and destroyed inside Syria, possibly in coastal areas.
What happens if Syria does not comply?
The US-Russian deal was enshrined in a UN Security Council resolution on 28 September.
The text has two legally binding demands: that Syria abandon its weapons stockpile and that chemical weapons experts be given unfettered access.
The US - backed by France and the UK - had pushed for a resolution carrying the threat of military action against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's armed forces. Russia had opposed this.
Although the resolution refers to Chapter VII of the UN Charter which allows the use of military force, a second resolution authorising such a move would be needed in the event of non-compliance by Damascus.
What chemical weapons does Syria have?
On 14 September, the UN confirmed Syria had acceded to the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC), which commits members to destroying their stockpiles.
Seven days later, the OPCW confirmed it had received "the expected disclosure from the Syrian government regarding its chemical weapons programme". It declined to release details of what was in the declaration.
The US-Russia agreement says the two countries have "reached a shared assessment of the amount and type of chemical weapons involved". One US official said the agreed estimate was 1,000 tons of chemical weapons, including the blister agent, sulphur mustard, and sarin nerve agent.
France has said it believes Syria has several hundreds of tonnes of sulphur mustard, several hundreds of tonnes of sarin, and several tens of tonnes of the more potent and persistent nerve agent, VX. The US has said the Syrian military has access to "thousands of munitions" that could be used to deliver chemical agents, including long- and short-range missiles, aerial bombs and artillery rockets.
Have chemical weapons been used in Syria?
While there have been many unconfirmed reports over the past six months, no-one disputes that chemical weapons were responsible for the deaths of hundreds of people in several towns of the Ghouta agricultural belt to the west and east of Damascus on 21 August.
On 16 September, UN inspectors issued a report saying the environmental, chemical and medical samples they collected from the affected areas provided "clear and convincing evidence that surface-to-surface rockets containing the nerve agent sarin were used". The inspectors were not asked to ascertain who was behind the attack.
On 30 August, the White House said it assessed "with high confidence" that the Syrian government was responsible. A French intelligence assessment published on 3 September said the attack "could not have been ordered and carried out by anyone but the Syrian government".
However, President Bashar al-Assad blamed rebels for the deaths. Hetold the French newspaper Le Figaro on 2 September that Western powers had presented no evidence and that it would have been illogical for the Syrian army to use weapons of mass destruction in an area where its soldiers were present.
Russia - Syria's main international ally - also believes the rebels are behind the attack. Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said Moscow has "serious grounds" to believe the attack had been a provocation by rebel forces. Russia Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov has called the UN report "one-sided" and based upon "insufficient" information.
How did the disarmament agreement come about?
The 21 August attack triggered an international outcry. The US, UK and French governments swiftly called for punitive military action. However, momentum shifted when the UK parliament voted against military intervention and opposition began to emerge in the US Congress.
The US-Russian initiative emerged on 9 September after Mr Kerry said - in an apparently off-hand remark - that the US might not carry out strikes if President Assad placed his entire stockpile of chemical weapons under international control within a week. Within hours, Mr Lavrov said Russia had urged the Syrians to agree to do just that and Syria's Foreign Minister Walid Muallem endorsed the idea. On 10 September, Mr Obama said he had put his plans for military action on hold.
After three days of talks in Geneva, Mr Kerry and Mr Lavrov declared that they had agreed a framework to rid Syria of its chemical weapons.
How have the Syrian government and opposition reacted?
Syria's Minister for National Reconciliation, Ali Haidar, said the agreement represented a "victory". "On one hand, it helps the Syrians emerge from the crisis and on the other it has allowed for averting war against Syria," he told the Russian news agency, Ria Novosti.
The National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forcessaid in a statement that it believed the initiative would embolden President Assad's government to "escalate its military offensive" across Syria. It warned that the Syrian government had a long record of breaking agreements and urged the UN Security Council to pass a resolution including the threat of Chapter VII measures.
Gen Salim Idris, the head of the Supreme Military Council of the rebel Free Syrian Army denounced the agreement. "All of this initiative does not interest us. Russia is a partner with the regime in killing the Syrian people," he told reporters in Istanbul. "A crime against humanity has been committed, and there is not any mention of accountability."

Obamacare

(Reuters) - Americans will pay an average premium of $328 monthly for a mid-tier health insurance plan when the Obamacare health exchanges open for enrollment next week, and most will qualify for government subsidies to lower that price, the Obama administration said on Wednesday.

Obamacare
The figure, based on data for approved insurance plans in 48 states, represents the broadest national estimate for how much Americans will pay for health coverage under President Barack Obama's healthcare reform law next year. The prices of the new plans are at the heart of a political debate over whether they will be affordable enough to attract millions of uninsured Americans.
The Obama administration is counting on signing up 7 million Americans in the first full year of reform through the state exchanges, including 2.7 million younger and healthier consumers who are needed to offset the costs of sicker members.
Debate over whether Obamacare will prove affordable for millions of uninsured Americans has been sharp during the past few months, as states have announced rates. States that have supported the law said it will lead to lower prices. Others that have opposed the reform - including Georgia, Florida, and Indiana - warned of "rate shock" for consumers compared to what they could buy on the individual insurance market a year ago.
HHS said the average price was 16 percent lower than its own projections on premiums. In addition, consumers who earn up to 400 percent of the federal poverty level, or $62,040 for a couple, will qualify for subsidies that will lower the price further.

TEXAS RATES BELOW AVERAGE
The data is mostly based on 36 states where the federal government will operate the insurance exchange. About 14 other states and the District of Columbia are running their own exchange.
Politics aside, states with the lowest average premium tend to have more insurance companies offering plans, the report said. It said eight issuers on average were selling plans in the states with average premiums in the lowest 25 percent, while states with average premiums in the top 25 percent had only three insurers on average.
Texas has been among the Republican-led states most fiercely opposed to Obamacare, but its monthly rates came in below the national average, HHS said. In Austin, Texas, with 76 plans to choose from, a 27-year-old would pay $169 per month for the lowest cost mid-tier plan. In Dallas-Fort Worth, with 43 plans to choose from, that price was $217 per month, the report said. "The rates in Texas are looking good," said Gary Cohen, who is charged with overseeing the exchanges at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
Enrolling enough consumers is key to making the healthcare overhaul work economically, with price considered the most important factor driving enrollment, according to insurance industry surveys. Another concern has been that insurance companies will limit access to doctors in order to keep prices low. Cohen said that these so-called "narrow networks" were a trend before the Affordable Care Act went into effect.
The law was adopted in 2010 but two of its main pillars, the health exchanges and the expansion of Medicaid, take effect in 2014.

9/11/01 - A Day to Remember - 9/11/13

Remembering 9/11/01, I was sitting in a classroom on this day 12 years ago and the intercom annonuced for the teachers to turn on their TVs to the channel that was showing the hit on the twin towers. It was horrifying to experience. A memorable day, indeed.
At the bottom of this post I have a video that was a live news broadcast, so don't forget to check that out!
Remember all that was lost.
